Miyako is posing "1" as 1 year anniversary 
1 year has past since I purchased a DSLR(EOS 7D) to take a pics of Miyako. At the time, I didn’t think that I’d have so much interest on photography. I just have interest on taking a photo of Miyako, not photos itself. But EOS 7D is wonderful enough to turn me on the world of photography. It has excellent image quality and sequential shooting speed. Now I have 7 lenses for the camera and I’ve taken
39,422 photos. I’d like to say "thank you" to Miyako who’ve give me an opportunity to get into the world of photography!

I was reorganizing my dry cabinet and took out all my gear. Took this chance to shoot my current camera, lenses and flash lineup.
Wishlist:
A superzoom 400mm or 500mm for taking birds and plane photos. Probably one of the new Sigma lenses.
Maybe a wide-angle lens, like the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8

So, I’ve been considering {gasp} buying a DSLR. I think I might be able to trial one from a camera shop in town, but I need some input. Canon or Nikon? What’s the best to start up with? Do I need one with loads of lenses, or just the basics?
I’ll be paying myself. Below £500 for sure, if that’s possible.

Perspectives: Carousel of Progress (1)

I have found a number of shots from my past two trips that I have shot from two different lenses. Here is an example, the 1940s scene of the Carousel of Progress, one of my favorite rides in the Magic Kingdom (call me a dork if you will, but I love it). In this shot, taken on my May trip, I used my new Canon 10-22 wide angle lens to capture the whole scene. In the other shot, taken on my January trip, I used my Sigma 30mm lens.

dream lens

this is one of my dream lenses, the olympus 12-60mm f/2.8-4.0. the e-3 is also very nice, but i’m still extremely happy with my e-520.
other dream lens is a prime: the leica 25mm f/1.4 for 4/3 system. prices are almost the same, both are really expensive unfortunately

I used all four of my Olympus digital lenses when photographing these two units: for this shot, I used my 35mm f3.5 macro. It is the equivalent of a 70mm telephoto in 35mm film photography, which was a bit too much lens for the close quarters I had to work with at this location, but I found some uses for it anyway.

My boss told me today that we had a small stash of old Nikon lenses squirrelled away on a shelf in our video studio, dating from the 70s. Since I’m now the official staff photographer, he suggested I take possesion. Um, OK!
(One of the reasons I went with Nikon when choosing my first DSLR is that most old school Nikon lenses work just fine on newer cameras, although you have to focus and set the aperture manually. And, of course, the EXIF data on the digital image omits the lens-related setting data.)

So, since I have a great camera and some good lenses, I thought it was time to step-up and find a great bag to carry it all around in. I found this when I was in Beverly Hills, but didn’t buy it because I wasn’t sure if all my gear would fit. So I went to the Bravern yesterday and they had one in stock. I took my gear with me and – voila! – it all fit perfectly!
I like it. It’s a handsome bag, well-constructed, and suites my needs perfectly.
